The saddest words in LIFE;

- I should have…….

- If only I had given the little extra…..

Never leave tomorrow which you can do today!

SHARPEN YOUR AXE

John, a woodcutter, worked for a company for 5 years, but never got a raise. The company hired Bill and within a year and he got a raise. Then John resented Bill’s getting a raise after only a year and went to his boss to talk about it. The boss said, “ You are still cutting the same number of trees you were cutting five years ago. We are a result-oriented company and would be happy to give you a raise if your productivity goes up.” John went back , started hitting harder and putting in longer hours but he still wasn’t able to cut more trees. He went back to his boss and told him about his dilemma. The boss told John to go talk to Bill. “May be there is something Bill knows that you and I don’t.” John asked Bill how he managed to cut more trees. Bill answered, “ After every tree I cut, I take a break for 2 minutes and sharpen my axe. When was the last time you sharpen your axe?”

Education doesn’t mean good judgment in every reality

There is a story about a man who sold hotdogs by the road. He was illiterate, so he never read newspaper. He was hard of hearing, so he never listened to the radio either. His eyes were weak so he never watched television. But enthusiastically he sold lots of hotdogs. His sales and profits went up. He ordered more meat and got himself a bigger and a better stove. As his business was growing, the son who had recently graduated from college joined his father.
Then something strange happened. The son asked “ Dad, aren’t you aware of the great recession that is coming our way?” The father replied, “ No, but tell me about it.” The son said, “ The international situation is terrible. The domestic situation is even worse. We should be prepared for the coming bad times.”
The man thought that since his son had been to college, read the papers and listened to the radio, he ought to know and his advice should not be taken lightly. So the next day, the father cut down his order for the meat and the buns, took down the sign and was no longer as enthusiastic. Very soon fewer and fewer people bothered to stop at his hotdog stand. And his sales started coming down rapidly. The father said to his son, “ Son, you were right. We are now in the middle of recession. I am glad you warned me ahead of time.”

STRUGGLE

A biology teacher was teaching his students how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. He told the students that in the next couple of hours, the butterfly would struggle to come out of this cocoon, but no one should help the butterfly. Then he left. The students were waiting and it happened. The butterfly struggled to get out of the cocoon and against the advice of the teacher, one of the students took pity on it and decided to help the butterfly out of the cocoon. He broke the cocoon so it didn’t have to struggle anymore. But , shortly afterwards, the butterfly died. When the teacher returned, he was told what had happened. He explained to the students that it is a law of nature that the struggle to come out of the cocoon actually helps develop and strengthen the butterfly’s wings. By helping the butterfly, the boy had deprived the butterfly of its struggle and the butterfly died.

The Human brain

The brain can store (accumulate) 100 trillion pieces of information. In each second the brain receives (obtains/gathers/senses) more then 100 million nerve messages from the body. However the brain loses (misplaces/ fails to keep) 1000 cells per day, which are not replaced (substituted/replenished/ fill up)  , and yet memories are maintained (upheld/ preserved/ sustained/ provided/ retained). The brain cannot feel (texture/ touch/ambiance) pain. If a surgeon operates on the brain, the patient feels no pain.
During the first six months of a baby’s life, its brain doubles (develops twice) in size. The brain weights about 3.5 pounds. A man brain is heavier (weightier/ heftier/profounder) than a woman’s  brain. The brain weights one-fiftieth as much as the body, but used (cast off/ consume) one-fourth (25%) of the body’s oxygen.

The left size of the brain controls  (generates/ switches) the right side of the body, the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body. If you are right-handed, you have a strong left brain; if you are left-handed, you have a strong right brain.

Interestingly, the left brain controls math, language, and logic. The right brain controls art, color, and music.

FAILURE BUT NOT THE DEAD-END FINALLY

FAILURE BUT NOT THE DEAD-END FINALLY…
A man failed in business at the age of 21. He was again defeated in a legislative race at age 22; and failed again in business at age 24. He lost his sweetheart at the age of 26. He had a nervous breakdown at 27. He again lost congressional race at age 34. He lost a senatorial race at age 47; and failed again in an effort to become vice-president at age 47. He again lost a senatorial race at the age 49; but became elected-president of the United States of America at age 52. Do you know who he is? He is the sixteenth president of the United States of America.. Abraham Lincoln
